3rd European Driving Licence Directive Petition
We the undersigned are completely opposed to the motorcycle licensing and testing regime contained in the 3rd European Driving Licence Directive.

We are deeply concerned that to reduce road casualties, the European Commission and Council of Ministers have ignored the expert opinions of motorcyclists and their representatives.

We argue that the rationale of the stepped access as outlined in the Directive is based on data that are misleading and biased.

We take exception that the directive has not addressed the major cause of motorcycle fatalities which are collisions caused by car drivers.

We deplore that the Council of Ministers in Europe has recommended a second reading in the European Parliament without further amendments, thus bypassing the democratic right of citizens.

We urge the elected representatives of motorcyclists to do all in their power to have the motorcycle aspects of the directive withdrawn, so that a more meaningful directive can be drafted.
