YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED
Living Wills help you to make sure that your end-of-life wishes are respected, in case you become seriously ill and lose the ability to make decisions for yourself. These important documents gain statutory force in October 2007, when the Mental Capacity Act takes effect. *
Urgent action is needed to make sure that your end-of-life wishes, as set out in your Living Will, are respected.
Unfortunately, while Living Wills help many people to achieve the peaceful, dignified death they want, some peoples’ wishes are not acted on – because the health team does not know their Living Will exists. The Living Will might not follow the patient when he or she is transferred between wards or hospitals. Alternatively, the Living Will might be buried out of sight in the patient’s medical records.
The distress and suffering this causes patients, their loved ones and health professionals is immense. We can prevent this distress using an electronic recording system for Living Wills, to ensure that health professionals are made aware of patients’ wishes.
It will take just two minutes to help ensure your Living Will is respected, by clicking on the link below and contacting Lord Hunt of Kings Heath, the Minister of State for the Department of Health, and your MP, who can make this happen.
Your help really will make a difference. Thank you for your support.
