How you can help
This year, Family Rights Group will advise more than 6,000 families in England and Wales. Over the past six months the number of families contacting our advice services has risen by over 22% compared to the same period a year ago. These struggling families desperately require Family Rights Group's unique specialist advice service.

We assist:
• Parents to get early help to prevent problems escalating;
• Parents to face up to child protection concerns, to understand their options and to work in partnership with the local authority. This is key to keeping their child safe and to avoiding their child ending up subject to care proceedings.
• Grandparents and wider family members to come forward to care for children who cannot live with their parents due to tragedy or trauma.
• Parents whose children are in the care system, who have questions about contact and are unsure about what they need to do in order for their children to come home.

An independent evaluation found that by preventing children unnecessarily entering or remaining in care, every £1 invested in the advice and advocacy service saved the public purse £10.80 in care costs avoided.

The advice service is funded by the Department for Education until March 2016. Without further funding the service will close and many more extremely vulnerable children will end up in the care system at a much greater economic and social cost to society as well as to the detriment of the children.

Please e-lobby your local MP now to secure their support for the continued funding of the service. There is a model letter for you to use and adapt, for example if you want to include how your family has benefited from the service.

Thank you. Your support is much appreciated.
