Safety of UK football fans during the 2018 World Cup

The World Cup in 2018 was awarded to Russia.

Some MPs have already indicated that they feel that Russia should not have honour of hosting the World Cup following the annexation of Crimea and continued supply of weapons and military personnel to wage war in Eastern Ukraine, in contravention of the United Nations Charter and other international agreements.

Despite this, there is limited active support from MPs, many claiming that sport and politics should not mix and that this is a matter for FIFA.

AUGB is launching a campaign for MPs / MEPs to be more active and support Russia being stripped of hosting the World Cup in 2018.

This initial campaign focuses on the safety of supporters, particularly Ukrainian supporters, a number of which are UK citizens, but also supporters from Poland and the Baltic States.

The UK Governement has a duty of care to its citizens so we believe the safety aspects of the World Cup will help persuade MPs / MEPs to voice their opposition to Russia hosting the world cup in 2018 much more strongly.

This is just the first step in a campaign which will be developed further in the coming months.

This site can be used to email your MP / MEP wherever you live in the UK. It’s very easy to use. Simply click on the “Email your MP / MEP” tab in the left hand menu and follow the instructions.

After you email your MP / MEP, please forward all responses you receive to
