The UK is facing a dementia crisis.

Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia affect 820,000 people in the UK, costing our economy £23 billion each year. The economic burden is greater than for cancer and heart disease combined.

As the Alzheimer's Research Trust's Dementia 2010 report revealed, dementia is the greatest medical challenge of our time.

The only long-term solution involves research. If research results in a five year delay in the development of dementia, we could halve the number of people who die with the condition.

Dementia research is severely under-funded in the UK, receiving 12 times less support from government and charities than cancer research.

The Alzheimer's Research Trust is asking you to write to your MP to help defeat dementia once and for all.
